About SiteMOT

Who we are

SiteMOT is a free tool from Optima Web Design, a web design studio in Halifax, West Yorkshire, that builds and repairs websites for small businesses across the UK. Optima Web Design is a trading name of Optima Online Solutions Ltd, part of the Optima family alongside Salon Optima, Dental Optima and the Optima Platform.

We made SiteMOT because the website testers we found were all written for developers, and the people who actually own small-business websites could not get a straight answer out of any of them.

So we built one that gives a straight answer. Pass, advisory or fail, in plain English, with the evidence shown. There is no sales team and no call centre: the people who build the websites are the people you talk to.

How the check works

Enter a website address and we run it through Google's own testing tools, the same ones Google uses to judge sites, plus a set of direct checks of the page itself: whether a phone can dial the number, whether the business is described in a way search engines and AI assistants can read, whether the site says where it operates.

Every result is a real measurement of the live site on the day. If something could not be tested, the report says so rather than guessing. Nothing is invented, and passes are shown as clearly as faults.

Why it is free

This is the same set of checks we run at the start of paid design work, automated. The report diagnoses: it tells you what is wrong and what it is costing you, the way an MOT certificate does. Some people read it and ask us to put it right, and that is how we earn a living. Others take it to whoever looks after their site, which is fine by us.

You get your report, then at most three follow-up emails over a week, and the last one says it is the last. One-click unsubscribe on every email. We never sell or share an address.

Where we work

We are based in Halifax, West Yorkshire, and work with businesses anywhere in the United Kingdom. The check runs on any public website; the design and repair work is done remotely, with a preview of the finished site before anything is paid.
